Art DEco Ceiling

Home OfficE | Tulsa, OK

Creative Brief

It all began with a

downtown tunnel tour.

A home office very visible to the main living space needed some personality without fighting the design in the living room.

Inspired by a stained glass ceiling seen in Tulsa’s downtown tunnel tours, this side room was transformed into a faux-vaulted ceiling complete with details paying homage to the city’s art deco past.

in the details.

Don’t ask me how long this took or how my neck is doing. But it was worth it.

  • Colors: Pulled from original ceiling and other home details. Only 4 paint colors were bought. All other colors were mixed by hand to achieve variation and gradient effect.

  • Technique: Hand-painted, using tape for straight lines and a lot of slow hand strokes for the curves

  • Planning: Spent a lot of time beforehand to measure the different design areas to ensure there is a vaulted ceiling effect.
